Daptomycin is a lipopeptide antibiotic used in the treatment of systemic and life-threatening infections caused by Gram-positive organisms. Made of saprotroph Streptomyces roseospoms, a natural compound from the soil, its distinct mechanism of action makes it useful in treating infections caused by multiple drug-resistant bacteria
Dexmedetomidine, sold under the trade name Precedex, in particulr, is an anxiety reducing and sedative pain medication. Dexmedetomidine is notable for its ability to provide sedation without risk of respiratory depression, unlike other commonly used sedatives such as propofol, fentanyl, and midazolam, and can provide cooperative or semi-arousable sedation. Amoxicillin or clavulanic acid, also known as co-amoxiclav, is an antibiotic useful for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections. It is a combination of amoxicillin, a p-lactam antibiotic, and potassium clavulanate, a (3-lactamase inhibitor).
Daptomycin is specifically used for otitis media, strep throat, pneumonia, cellulitis, urinary tract infections, animal bites, and tuberculosis and can be taken by mouth or by injection into a vein. Its common side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, and allergic reactions. Daptomycin also increases the risk of yeast infections, headaches, and blood clotting problems. It is not recommended in people with a history of a penicillin allergy. It is relatively safe for use durinq pregnancy.
