Linezolid is an antibiotic (oxazolidinone class) used to treat infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, such as pneumonia, sepsis (bacterial infection in the bloodstream), skin and skin structure infections. It is one of the strongest antibiotics and especially prescribed for patients with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). Also, Linezolid is used as essential 2nd-line Tuberculosis treatment as it is listed in the 2016 WHO guidelines for the core 2nd-line treatment of tuberculosis.
