Located in Jeollanam-do, Korea, Boseong is the country’s largest area of tea cultivation where about 40% of Korea’s tea is produced. In this region humidity is higher due to the foggy conditions and the temperature difference between day and night is great.
The weather conditions and the soil are perfect for cultivating tea, like in other world-renowned teaproducing areas.
Situated in the green and beautiful hills of Boseong, Bohyang Tea Farm is a tea plantation that specializes in organic green tea. The tea farm is run by Mr. Choi Young-ki and his wife, Choi Woo-jung. They have spent over 20 years growing organic green tea.
To produce green tea of highest quality, they have not only carried out research on locally grown tea plants, but also collected much valuable information about green tea in their travels to Japan, China and Taiwan. As a result of their ceaseless efforts to develop superior quality green teas, they succeeded in producing their own specially named “Bohyang Tea” and “Gold Tea.”
Both teas are the first to obtain organic certification for fermented green tea in Korea. The organic tea from Boyang Tea Farm combines a mouth-watering savory flavor and a pleasant aftertaste. What’s more, the green tea’s antioxidant property is stronger than any other foods. For example, the organic tea has 100 times more antioxidants than vitamin C so it is good for lowering blood pressure and promoting weight loss.
The tea plants in Bohyang Tea Farm are cultivated in a totally natural way, without using chemical fertilizers or p e s t i c i d e s during the planting and p r o d u c t i o n processes, and thus Bohyang Tea Farm earned Organic Certification and Quality Certification, from the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (NAQS), and International Organic Certification from the United States (USDA), Japan (JAS) and Europe (EU).
