Daesang pushes for European sales

K-seasoning is expanding its territory beyond North America into Europe. Yeondu, which is Sempio’s flagship liquid seasoning sauce, has entered major distribution networks in Germany and Switzerland. Daesang also plans to expand its tablet-type (round) seasoning, which is currently being sold primarily in the North American market, into the European market.

According to the food industry, Sempio’s liquid seasoning sauce Yeondu has recently entered the stores of Rewe, the major German retailer, and Migros, Switzerland’s leading retail chain. It is currently being sold in dozens of stores in Germany and Switzerland, and the company plans to gradually expand the number of stores carrying the product in the future.
Rewe is a large retail company operating more than 3,800 stores in Germany alone and about 12,000 stores in 21 other European countries. Migros is also a supermarket chain with about 700 stores throughout Switzerland.
Until now, the company has focused on selling seasonings and fermented pastes such as red pepper paste and fermented soybean paste in the North American market; and the company has been exporting fermented pastes only.
Daesang is also strengthening its entry into the global market. Last September, Daesang’s global food brand O’food launched Coin Broth, a tablet-type seasoning. Currently, this product is being distributed primarily in Western markets, including the USA, Canada, and Australia, and it will soon be available in Loblaw, a major Canadian retailer. “We plan to expand its sales into the European market in the future and then enter major distribution channels in each country,” a Daesang spokesperson explained.
