A major trade gathering returns to Malaysia
Southeast Asia’s beauty and personal care sector will converge on Kuala Lumpur this autumn as the region’s longest running business to business exhibition returns for another edition. The event will take place from September 29 through October 1 2026, occupying Halls 1 through 5 on the ground floor of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Organized by Informa Markets Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the official gathering known as Cosmobeauté Malaysia & beautyexpo 2026 marks the 21st edition of one component and the 24th edition of the other. Roughly 400 exhibitors from eleven countries and regions are expected, alongside more than 15,000 trade visitors traveling from over sixty nations.
International pavilions from China, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan will anchor the show floor. Operating hours run from 10 in the morning until 7 at night on the opening two days, then conclude at 6 on the final afternoon, giving buyers ample time across three days.

Access rules and floor organization
Admission remains reserved strictly for trade visitors, commercial buyers, and industry professionals, with individuals under sixteen barred from entry. A formal dress code applies, prohibiting shorts, sleeveless shirts, and open toed slippers, while unauthorized photography and video recording are also forbidden on site.
Visitors who pre register online before September 28 receive complimentary admission, while later registrations incur a fee of twenty ringgit collected at badge desks in Hall 2 or Hall 5. The show floor spans eight sectors, ranging from professional beauty and haircare through makeup, nails, packaging, halal certified products, training, and wellness.
Programming includes the sixth Malaysia Glory Cup International Beauty Competition, the Bloom and Groom Skin Management Competition, and an artistry contest themed around forward looking styling trends. A structured buyer program pairs verified exhibitors with high volume international procurement managers throughout the three day run.

Korean cosmetics reach record export levels
Alongside this regional trade platform, South Korea’s cosmetics sector has posted historic results. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and Korea Customs Service, exports reached 11.43 billion dollars in 2025, a 12.3 percent increase that pushed the country past the United States into second place globally behind France.
That momentum carried into 2026, with first half exports climbing 27.3 percent year over year to reach 7 billion dollars. The trade surplus generated by cosmetics also expanded to 10.13 billion dollars in 2025, representing nearly thirteen percent of the nation’s entire trade surplus.
Much of this growth stems from a deliberate shift away from China, which once absorbed nearly half of Korean cosmetic shipments. By the first half of 2026, China’s share had fallen to 14.4 percent, while the United States climbed to 20.7 percent following a 41.5 percent surge in shipment value.
Diversification extends well beyond these two markets. Poland has emerged as a fast growing European logistics gateway, the United Arab Emirates now leads Middle Eastern demand, and Latin American markets including Mexico and Brazil have posted triple digit annual growth rates in recent periods.

Manufacturing agility and regulatory change
Behind these figures sits an unusually agile manufacturing ecosystem built around contract development and manufacturing organizations. Companies such as Cosmax and Kolmar Korea allow smaller independent brands to develop and launch new formulations within sixty to ninety days, far faster than legacy competitors elsewhere.
Digital omnichannel strategies have reinforced this speed, with major conglomerates launching brands directly through platforms such as Amazon Premium Beauty and expanding live commerce studios for real time product discovery. Rising valuations among manufacturing specialists have also encouraged a wave of public offerings across the sector.
Regulators have moved in parallel, with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety introducing phased safety assessment requirements aligned with international manufacturing standards through 2031. A public private coalition including customs and intellectual property authorities has also formed to combat counterfeit products entering global supply chains.

Trade shows and export data reinforce each other
Taken together, regional trade platforms and Korea’s export performance illustrate complementary forces shaping the industry. Physical exhibitions provide the regulatory contacts, distribution networks, and manufacturing partnerships that digital channels alone cannot replicate, particularly for exporters entering unfamiliar regulatory environments across Southeast Asia and beyond.
For brands navigating this landscape, diversified market strategies, compliance readiness, and active participation in trade platforms appear increasingly linked to sustained international growth throughout the remainder of the decade.
