CU Medical Systems, Inc. is a leading manufacturer and exporter in Korea of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Korea is among one of the most rapidly growing AED markets in the world since the nation’s revised legislation on emergency medical services made availability of AEDs compulsory in hospitals, airports, railway stations and other public locations in 2008.
Founded in 2001, CU Medical Systems specializes in the design, development, manufacturing and selling of high-tech emergency medical devices. Its core items include automated external defibrillators. “I was sure that there would be a good chance to win the game in this rudimentary market in Korea, if we could acquire the AED proprietary technology,” said the company’s president.
CU Medical systems set out to develop AEDs immediately, and the company has become one of a handful of producers of automated external defibrillators in the world since it succeeded in developing its own AED (model no. CU-ER1) for the first time as a Korean company in 2002. Since then it has been making constant and intensive R&D endeavors to provide top quality emergency medical devices.
As a single company in Korea to cover a full range of defibrillators, it now provides AEDs for public places and defibrillators & monitors for hospitals by using its safe and intelligent cardiac monitoring and defibrillation technology.
With its proprietary technology, CU Medical systems constantly launches new AEDs featuring innovative functions. Its latest semi-automated external defibrillator i-PAD (Intelligent Public Access Defibrillator) CU-SP1 has been developed with focus on ease of use, simple operation and reliable systems so that anyone, even those without professional training, can save the life of a person by using Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) and Fast Ventricular Tachycardia (FVT).
The i-PAD provides simple and direct voice indications with an LED indicator for a straightforward rescue operation. Also, the device is designed to test itself on a regular basis – daily, weekly and monthly – so as to be ready for rescue job anytime and anywhere. It has received approval from the U.S. FDA.
A brand-new CU-HD1 has been released for medical professionals, including medical specialists, or paramedics to treat patients suffering sudden cardiac arrest. Focusing on defibrillation and monitoring of the patient, the device has such features as the manual and automated external defibrillator (AED) operation, defibrillation using paddles or pads, synchronized cardioversion, Nellcor SpO2 pulse oximetry with alarm, ECG monitoring (3 Lead ECG/ 5Lead ECG /10 Lead ECG) and non-invasive pacing mode.
