Marsh snails have been widely used as medicinal materials for their excellent effect to improve hepatic function since ancient times. Cultivated in the clean area of Hadong, Korea, where Mt. Nine kinds of marsh snails inhabit Korea and their shapes and kinds are different depending on the environment and region where they grow. Marsh snails live mainly in herds in the valleys and rivers. The size of their upper body is usually 1 to 3 cm, and the diameter is less than 1.2 cm. Although it is difficult to distinguish whether it is male or female by the naked eye, the size of a female is usually larger than the male. The baby marsh snail conceived in a female’s body features sandy texture as its shell is formed first.
