GCOO APP is a comprehensive personal mobility (PM) sharing service platform that allows users to rent electric scooters and bicycles nationwide, with approximately 95,000 units available. The GCOO APP stands out by organizing various services in a card format on the main screen, enabling users to intuitively select the desired menu at a glance. This design differentiates it from other apps that stick to a map-based layout.
GCOO sets itself apart from other PM service providers through three main features: providing localized services tailored to the lifestyles of local residents, incorporating customer feedback into device designs such as the K2 and B3 models, and prioritizing customer safety to ensure usability for all generations.
Key features of the GCOO APP include a distance-based fare system, a transfer system, and a destination search function. The distance-based fare system calculates charges based on travel distance, encouraging safer riding by reducing the rush to complete trips quickly.
The transfer system waives the unlocking fee for re-riding within 12 hours, regardless of whether the user switches between scooters and bicycles, thereby enhancing user convenience and satisfaction. The destination search function provides easy access to information about service availability, parking options, and device presence at points of interest, allowing users to efficiently plan their PM usage and avoid unnecessary hassles.
Electric Scooters
K2 Electric Scooter is designed with rigorous attention to South Korea’s safety standards and user environment. It features an ergonomic design that maximizes user convenience, with curved handlebars to minimize fatigue during long rides and a low center of gravity on the footboard to enhance stability for beginners.
The K2 Electric Scooter incorporates advanced artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (AIoT) technology, equipped with a 180-degree fisheye camera and an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). This system analyzes the surrounding environment in real-time, predicting potential collisions with pedestrians and automatically adjusting speed to prevent accidents.
Additionally, the K2 can detect parking status using object recognition and location information, guiding users to park correctly and avoid obstructing pedestrian pathways.
Electric Bicycles
B3 Electric Bicycle focuses on safety and ride comfort, developed through GCOO’s superior technological capabilities. The B3 has been meticulously crafted over three years, involving 50 personnel, 28 domestic partners, and 15,000 tests.
Designed to handle South Korea’s steep terrains, the B3 features precise pedaling sensors and enhanced output to adjust speed immediately, providing a smooth and responsive riding experience.
The B3 model also incorporates AIoT technology, recognizing various objects to predict accidents and equipped with a three-axis accelerometer for impact detection. This technology sends event data to a server, enabling remote response to emergencies. The B3 also has an automatic recording mode, which captures and stores video footage of incidents, offering an effective response to safety incidents.
G Bike Co., Ltd. aims to provide safe and reliable short-distance transportation, allowing people to enjoy more freedom and convenience in their mobility. Founded in 2017 with a bicycle-sharing service, the company now offers various short-distance transportation services, including electric scooters and bicycles.
In October 2020, the company successfully commercialized the first Korean-made shared electric scooter, the “GCOOTER K.” By securing core technologies in the PM manufacturing field, GCOO introduced the “K2” model in 2023, significantly improving safety and efficiency, and plans to launch the domestic shared electric bicycle “B3” model in 2024.
