Habit Bangchon Market’s Original Teokbokki which has been around for 40 years at the entrance to Daegu’s Bangchon Market is a local favorite popular among consumers for its reasonable prices and consistent flavor. This iconic Teokbokki restaurant, a symbol of the market, has cultivated a loyal fan base thanks to the owner’s skilled sauce development expertise and honest management. It gained national recognition through visits by YouTubers and bloggers and appearances on the Korean TV show, “Hangout with Yoo.”

Following this word-of-mouth and consumer demand, the restaurant’s Teokbokki was developed and launched as a meal kit in 2023, and sold nationwide through online retailers like Naver Smart Store and Coupang. In April 2024, the product was revamped, featuring a trendier version that emphasizes the moisture content of Teokbokki rice cakes, the richness of fish cake surimi, and the rich flavor of Gochujang (red pepper paste) ― to create a more appealing format for a wider range of ages, and single- and two-person households.

“Bangsi Teokbokki” is the brand name for the meal kit of Bangchon Market’s original Teokbokki. It recreates the authentic taste of the restaurant’s Teokbokki, using rice cakes that are quick-frozen to preserve their chewy texture, premium fish cakes with a 75% or higher tender meat content, and a patented special sauce.
Currently, Bangsi Teokbokki is expanding its reach through various YouTube content, Coupang Live, and short-form video production. It is preserving the heritage of a local iconic tradition and emerging as a representative Korean snack.
HabitMall Co., Ltd., which started as a kitchenware specialty store, has provided convenience to consumers by selling over 10,000 different kinds of products. Building on this distribution experience, it has embarked on the development of premium meal kits that embody the values of local tradition.
In particular, HabitMall collaborated with the owner of the original restaurant in Bangchon Market, a 40-year-old restaurant located nearby, to jointly develop Habit Bangchon Market Teokbokki.
