MICELLECMC® is a brand of CMC (Carboxymethyl cellulose) produced by GLChem Co., which adds water solubility by replacing the hydroxy group (-0H) of cellulose with a hydrophilic sodium carboxymethyl group (-CH2C00Na) / Lithium carboxymethyl group (-CH2COOLi) and shows hygroscopicity like general water-soluble polymers.

CMC Characteristics
CMC is an abbreviation of carboxymethyl cellulose. It is a white, creamy white granular or fibrous powder, soluble in water, odorless, chemically stable, and harmless to the human body. CMC is a food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic or industrial additive that is widely used for thickening, stabilizing, dispersing, bonding, repairing, lubricating, glossing, and extender applications.

High purity CMC-Na

CMC as a binder for secondary batteries is required to have a higher purity than general CMC, the insoluble microgel part among the particle components should be minimized, and the degree of substitution and the particle size of the powder should also be optimized for the intended application. GLChem Co., Ltd. has a lineup of high- purity CMC products for batteries using its own particle size control technology.

MICELLCMC®’s CMC for secondary batteries undergoes a differentiated purification process compared to general CMC to control metal impurities to suppress electrochemical side reactions, and to shorten electrode process time by improving solubility through powder particle size distribution control.

• Among medium and large-sized lithium secondary batteries, an electrode plate is designed to be th in for high output power.
• Undissolved microgels are exposed to the surface of the thin electrode plate, resulting in surface irregularitiese Problems such as an increase in electrical resistance
• A slurry screening process is required before application of the electrode plate to solve the surface defect of the electrode plate, and even in the screening process, a plurality of microgels degrade transmittance and transmittance, thereby adversely affecting productivity.
