K-Snack Targets Emerging Markets including India
Lotte to expand production capacity in India by 33%
Grew by over 30% in Kazakhstan in the first half of the year.
K-confectionery companies are recording high sales growth not only in traditional export markets such as China, Russia, and Vietnam, but also in countries like India and Kazakhstan.
According to the food industry, K-snack companies are rapidly expanding their target regions this year to include India and Kazakhstan. Russia and India stand out in Orion’s overseas sales. Sales at the Russian subsidiary reached KRW 195.5 billion in the first half of the year, a 32.1% increase. Additionally, although its sales volume is not yet large, the Indian subsidiary recorded the highest growth rate, with sales increasing by 81%.

As the operating rate of its pie production line in India nears 100%, Orion will expand its Choco Pie and Custard production lines in the second half of this year to meet growing demand.
Lotte Wellfood is also growing rapidly in India. The sales of Lotte India, the company’s Indian subsidiary, increased by approximately 28% in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. With the recent full-scale operation of the fourth Choco Pie line at the Haryana Rotak factory, annual production capacity has increased by about 33%. Lotte India aims to achieve annual sales of KRW 1 trillion by 2032. 
Lotte Wellfood is also boosting its performance in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and Russia. The Kazakhstani subsidiary’s first-quarter sales reached KRW 83 billion, a 23% increase compared to the same period last year. The company plans to use its Kazakhstani subsidiary to target neighboring Central Asian countries as well.
