COEX Mall has been recreated as a new ‘culture platform’
If asked to name the best entertainment complex in Seoul, a lot of people come up with COEX Mall, a large-scale underground shopping center which targets almost all ages.
Located in the heart of Gangnam, the commercial center of Seoul, COEX Mall has been long beloved as a great place to spend time with friends and family enjoying food, movies and shopping since its opening in May 2000.
Under the concept of ‘Culture Platform,’ COEX Mall has completed a large-scale renovation and fully reopened as a classy and trendy shopping, dining, accommodation, and entertainment space with a modern look in December 2014.
With an expanded area of about 165,000 square meters, the mall houses nearly 300 commercial stores, including myriad restaurants and stores as well as a movie complex and an aquarium. The newly opened mall is divided into largely five zones with merchandising concepts, unique interior and atmosphere. It starts from “Millennium Plaza,” which is directly connected to the subway station, “Airport Plaza,” “Central Plaza,” “Live plaza” and finally “ASEM Plaza.”
Served by Samseong Station on Seoul Metro Line 2 and Line 9 that will be connected the ASEM Plaza, it is easy to reach.
Above the mall is the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center, which is known for being a major venue for international conferences such as the 2010 G-20 Seoul Summit and the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit. Thus, for foreign trade visitors, the mall can be a good tourist attraction that lets them enjoy the hottest trends in Korea.
With about 300 commercial stores that draw numerous visitors all the year round, COEX Mall is a fascinating entertainment complex to accommodate various places to dine in, to shop, eat and play, such as theaters, bookstores, and a grand aquarium. There are also banks, post offices and other facilities for daily living.
