Choco Pie’s Annual Sales Exceed KRW 200 bil. in Russia
2025 sales in Russia reach KRW 216.8 billion
Increasing at an average annual rate of 22% over the past six years
Local production lines set to double next year
Orion’s flagship Choco Pie is selling like hotcakes in Russia, with local sales surpassing KRW 200 billion for the first time last year. Orion’s Oh!Gamja and Choco Pie are the only K-snacks to exceed KRW 200 billion in sales in a single overseas country.
According to the confectionery industry, total global sales of Orion’s Choco Pie last year reached KRW 673 billion, with KRW 216.8 billion (approximately 32%) coming from Russia alone. It has taken 23 years since Choco Pie was first exported to Vladivostok, Russia, in 1993 for annual local sales to exceed KRW 50 billion. However, the growth trend has been steep, surpassing KRW 100 billion in 2022 just six years later, and then exceeding KRW 200 billion last year, just three years after that. With an average annual growth rate of 22% over the past six years, projections suggest global sales could reach KRW 750 billion this year, with sales in Russia reaching KRW 260 billion.

Watermelon-flavored Choco Pie, which is sold only in Russia, is being sold nationwide and exclusively at 23,500 stores of Pyaterochka, a large supermarket chain owned by X5, Russia’s retail group which recorded No. 1 in sales last year. Exclusive packaging products, including Orange Choco Pie, are gaining popularity as they are stocked by Tender, the second-largest local distributor.
According to Orion, the utilization rate of its five Choco Pie production lines in Russia has already exceeded 100%. To meet surging demand, Orion is expanding production capacity. A key project is the expansion of its Tver plant, scheduled for completion in 2027. Once operation begins at the new plant, in which KRW 240 billion has been invested, production capacity will double, leading to increased production of biscuits, snacks and jellies.
