Organic Mulberry Leaf

Mulberry tree leaves are used to feed silkworms. People in some Asian countries use the leaves for many years as a herbal medicine to remove excessive heat and toxins from the body.

Being rich in iron, protein, essential amino acids, calcium (50 times that of spinach, 27 times that of milk), vitamins, dietary fiber (4.7 times that of green tea) and minerals, the leaves are harvested and dried for use as herbal remedies. Most of all, mulberry leaves are known to be highly helpful for maintaining healthy levels of glucose in the blood, but it may also promote cardiovascular health.

Traditionally, mulberry leaf, which was considered to have various health benefits, was made into a tea in Korea. Recent studies show that mulberries are a good source of GABA (ten times that of green tea), which researchers believe can lower blood pressure as well as provide the capillary strengthening substance rutin (3.8 times that of green tea).

Located in South Jeolla Province, Donguinara specializes in organic mulberry leaf tea of the highest quality in Korea. In 2003, it started the mulberry leaf tea production business in Naju, known for an unpolluted environment and mulberry tree fields. The Korean tea company harvests mulberry leaves from its own mulberry trees fields which it cultivates in a natural way. The quality of this organic tea is internationally certified (JAS Organic Product Certificate).

Donguinara makes the mulberry leaves tea according to the same method as producing the highest quality green tea.

The mulberry leaf tea is prepared by labor-intensive manufacturing processes consisting of collecting young leaves of mulberry in autumn, steaming and roasting treatment.
The leaves are steamed, and are then cooled, which is aimed at retaining the original color, flavor and taste of mulberry leaves. After going through the process, the leaves are rubbed down and pressed under an evenly heated machine. Then these leaves are being dried with the moisture in the leaf less than 4 percent, which is intended to prevent the tea leaves from oxidizing.

Before being packaged, the mulberry leaves are reheated in the casing cylinder, which enhances the flavor of the mulberry leaves.

Besides this tea, the Korean company’s laboratory is involved in developing cosmetics, pills, powder and other functional products using mulberry leaves.
